Noel Perth Gordon passed away

One of the old settlers and a prominent figure of McCluskiegunj, Mr. Noel Perth Gordon passed away early this morning.
Noel was the owner of the 'Gordon Hostel' and 'Gordon Guest House'. He was well known by people of McCluskiegunj as Noel Uncle.
The burial ceremony took place in the McCluskiegunj cemetery at 5:45 pm where a large no. of people came to pay their last respects to the departed soul. Among them were our M.L.A., Glen Galstaun and Surendra Nath Pandey including the Principal and staff of the Don Bosco Academy. McCluskiegunj has lost a well known personality.
Noel came to McCluskiegunj with his parents in 1958 when he was just a 10 year old boy. He was the son of William and Nancy Gordon. Noel was deeply attached to McCluskiegunj and was not to leave the Gunj for the love of anything.
He shall be remembered and missed by all those who knew him.

Mr. David Roderick Cameron passed away

Mr. D.R. Cameron, an old settler of McCluskiegunj, and the founder of the McCluskiegunj Development Forum passed away yesterday at around 4 pm in Kolkata.

Mr. Cameron had worked a lot in the earlier times to bring McCluskiegunj in the limelight and had also run a school (St. Andrew's School) and a Guest House (Highland Guest House).

Sad News 2

Chintu Mukherjee, a member of one of the old non Anglo Indian settlers of McCluskiegunj passed away after a long ailment. He suffered from malaria and jaundice  . He was the brother of Mona Mukherjee (better known as Mona Bangali).

Chintu was the owner of the Mukherjee Hostel at Konka. 
May his soul to rest in peace.

Sad News


McCluskiegunj has just a handful of Anglo Indian families left to call residents of the place.
Mrs. Jenny Flemming, a senior citizen expired after a long ailment at Asansol on 30th May 2013. She was a humble lady and was well known to everybody. She was the daughter of Ronnie and Queenie Miller. She was better known as “Jenny Aunty”.
Jenny ran a school and a hostel for Don Bosco Academy a few years ago.
The sad news of her demise arrived here yesterday.
May her soul to rest in peace.
