What we witnessed on the 12th was a dust storm that was followed by rain.
Mr. Brian Mendies, a senior resident explained that the dust particles within the storm were so densely packed that it was not allowing the sunlight to penetrate through it causing it to seem like it was night. As soon as the storm changed direction or got scattered, it was bright again.
I agree with this theory.
