The Gunj Cemetery












These pictures were taken in Dec. 2010.
Note the years mentioned on the graves. Some are dated as far as 1932. Eliza Janet Stringer, Lily Charles, Gladys Smith, William Charles Stweart, Amelia Jones, Regina Sarah Carpenter and William Fredrick Smith were the people whose graves are shown above.

  1. The grave shown seem to be in good shape but the newer one need attention. In order to bring in revenue visitors, especially from old residents and their families. Where are the Anglos today.? I know they have a annual get-together every year. Much more needs to be done.

    The cemetery does need attention and has been neglected badly. There are just a dozen families that belong to the Anglo Indian community here and the burial board, incharge of the cemetery is an Anglo Indian Burial Board and no Anglo Indian is concerned about the cemetery. Sad, but true.
