GLEN GALSTAUN'S VISIT

On Saturday 4th February, we had a meeting cum get-together at Mrs. Judy Mendonca's place. Mr. Glen Galstaun, our M.L.A. (accompanied by Mr. Surendra Nath Pandey) was with us to discuss issues to work on in the near future.
Mr. Galstaun listened to all that was said and asked by them who were present.
Medical, borewells, electricity, roads, education and cemetery boundary walls were among the issues discussed.
Among the members present there, there were; Mrs. Kathleen Hourigan, Mr. Dennis Meredith, Mr. Harold Mendies, Mr. John Hourigan, Mr. Christopher D'Costa and daughter Crystal, Mr. Ivan Barrette, Mrs. Debbie Barrette, Mrs. Kitty, Mr. Jeffery Mendies, Mr. Kenneth Jennings, Mr. Clayton Gomes, Mrs. Brenda Gomes, and my wife Charmaine Hourigan and myself.
The thana prabhaari was also present and took a list of the names and positions of active members of the association, McCluskiegunj branch.
Mr. Galstaun has done a lot for the Anglos here. He has given bore wells and roads to many residents. He is seeing to a tuberculous patient's medical expense and much more.
I am personally grateful to Mr. Galstaun for providing me a deep bore, submersible pump, piping, storage tank (1000 Ltrs.) at the small plot of land that means a lot to me, free of my cost too.

La Veda Inter College

This is good news...

Now we have an Inter College named La Veda that was established this year. The college is already functioning and promises a lot to the future generation.

A large no. of students have been forced to venture out of McCluskiegunj after finishing their matriculation due to lac of any such institution. We now hope that many will be pleased.

The pic. here is of the area that has been taken on a lease of 44 years. I hear that a stadium or college buildings will be built in the area cleared by machines early this month.

St. John's Church

St. John’s Church, McCluskiegunj, built in 1940, has not been really taken care of very much in the recent past. This year there has been colour washing of the walls and painting of doors and windows done.

The almost complete Bridge

These pictures, taken on 18th December 2011 show the almost completed bridge that has been awaited for since a long time. As you may see that there is just a small patch left. It is a clear indication that there is some hidden reason for which the small stretch is left unfinished.

Until its completion, the make-shift bridge shown in a pic. is being brought into use.

The Abhijeet Group

These pictures are of the great project started by the Abhijeet Group. The site is just beside the almost completed bridge over the river Damodar. You might notice that site shows that work has started. There are damming the Damodar river and are to bore a 20 feet deep well with a diameter of 5 feet. This is to fulfil the water requirement for the power plant coming-up at Chakla.
